Omaxe Ltd. developed a high end housing at NOIDA known as ‘The Forest’ housing. We were asked to design a structure to house the club facilities meant for the residents.
As a site challenge the available F.A.R.’s on the ground level were not sufficient to house the entire program that included a restaurant, squash court, gymnasium, snooker room and spa facilities. As a result, we pushed a chunk of the program in the basement but, to maintain the ground- earth relationships of the green, light, air and ventilation we designed the super structure as a large canopy covering the multiple sunken courts around which all the facilities were placed. As a result the basement from its dark dingy character became a storehouse of energy fed by vegetation and natural light and ventilation.
Since, the superstructure was supposed to be kept lightweight we opted for a complete steel construction where the industrial language of steel was used to enhance the aesthetics of the building. The open air sit out deck is covered by various membrane kites and the glass façade of the main structure is partially covered by a screen of wooden louvers to cut the glare from the sun making it a more amicable interior space
