Dedicated to the renowned Indian sculptor Robin David, this park located at the ITM Campus, Gwalior was to serve a dual purpose; a living gallery for the life size sculptures done by the artist himself and secondly, a space of recreation and contemplation meant for the students on campus.
The program included, open gallery spaces, a performance stage, cafeterias for students and professors and toilets.
The site offered the biggest challenge of more than 500 existing trees spaced as close as 1.5 meters at places. As a design concept, we marked out the negative spaces between the trees and derived the form so that the conceived transparent building canopy that shoots up from the ground was always shaded by the foliage and in return we didn't have to cut a single tree!
