DSYW Sports City, Satgarhi – Bhopal
Spread across 172 acres on the edge of Bhopal, DSYW Sports City reimagines the idea of a sports township by fusing international-standard athletic infrastructure with mixed-use urban vitality. Conceived by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare, the project aspires to be both a hub of excellence in training and competition and a model for integrated city-building.
At its core, the master plan balances sports, residential, commercial, and hospitality zones in a coherent urban narrative. A 45-acre central green – anchored by a nine-hole golf course – acts as the township’s “lung,” ensuring that every residence overlooks open landscapes. To the south, a dedicated sports precinct consolidates major venues – including a cricket stadium, Olympic-size aquatic complex, indoor arena, and tennis courts – all designed to international federation standards. This separation of zones ensures crowd and traffic management during peak events while preserving livability for residents.
The township’s urban edge along Kolar Road is marked by retail, offices, and a landmark 5-star hotel with convention facilities, drawing in both the local community and global visitors. Residential towers and villas for players, staff, and the public ensure continuous life on site, while hostels and training centers support long-term athlete development.
By limiting built-up area to one-third, the project foregrounds sustainability, with generous open spaces, shaded boulevards, and river-linked landscape corridors. Sports City thus becomes more than a venue for tournaments: it is an everyday community, a destination that blends spectacle with settlement, recreation with residence.
Satgarhi Sports City positions Bhopal on the global sporting map while creating a vibrant, sustainable urban model – a landmark where sports, nature, and city life converge.
